Men's Basketball Earns Third Seed in ECAC Championship Tournament, Hosts Anna Maria College in First Round
CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College men's basketball team earned the third seed in the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament that features seven regional teams and will host No. 6 Anna Maria College on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 6:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
Elms (17-10 overall) earned the second seed in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament and lost to top-seeded Becker College in the tournament title game. Elms won the 2010 ECAC championship, knocking off top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University to clinch its first-ever ECAC title.
Anna Maria (14-14 overall) lost to Albertus Magnus College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship title game en route to becoming the sixth seed in the ECAC postseason tournament.
The Blazers are 3-1 all-time against Anna Maria with the last two games in the series played in 2005. Elms won 80-76 and 100-62.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) garnered top seed honors and earned a first round bye. The Engineers will host the semifinal and final rounds.
