LEICESTER, Mass. – The Becker College field hockey team advanced to their third New England Collegiate Conference Championship with a 4-0 semifinal victory over Elms College Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.

Becker (10-11) got on the board 12:59 into the game when Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) redirected a Amy Grenier (Westminster, Mass.) shot past Elms goalie Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.) for the 1-0 advantage.

Elms (5-16) had an opportunity to tie game when Abby McNulty (Bedford, Mass.) broke past the Hawks defense all alone, but senior goalkeeper Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) double stacked the pads to preserve the lead.

The Hawks increased their margin to 2-0 when Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, Mass.) fed Katherine DiMascio (Braintree, Mass.) on a penalty corner, slipping it into bottom left corner of the Blazers net. Jocelyn Lebel (Grafton, Mass.) added to the Becker lead on a centering pass from Brittney Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) with 24:22 remaining. Just under a minute later, DiMascio tallied her second goal of the game when she put back a Landanno shot to make score 4-0.

Gallo made six saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season. Alvino suffered the loss after turning away 23 shots.

The Blazers wrapped their action for the 2015 season. Becker will now host the New England Collegiate Conference Championship on Saturday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m.
