NASHUA, N.H. – The Elms College field hockey squad registered a 3-1 victory over host Daniel Webster in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup Thursday afternoon at Harvey Woods Field.
Stephanie Esposito (Orange, Conn.) led the Blazers (3-13, 3-4 NECC) with a pair of first half goals while Madison Messier (Warren, Mass.) added a key second half score to help ice the victory.
Brittany Tierney (Napean, Ont.) helped cut a 2-0 first half deficit in half for DWC with her team-leading third goal of the season with just 37 seconds to go before the break.
Esposito put Elms ahead 1-0 and 2-0 with her goals in the 25th and 31st minutes, respectively, while Messier notched her score in the 60th.
Michelle Davis (McKinney, Tex.) stopped nine shots for the Eagles, while Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.) made six saves for Elms.
The two teams complete a home-and-home pair on Saturdayin Chicopee, Mass. beginning at 11:00 a.m.
