Field Hockey Collects First Victory In NECC Opener

LEICESTER, Mass. – Elms College defeated Becker College 3-2 in New England Collegiate Conference women's field hockey action Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Brittney Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) put Becker (1-9, 0-1 NECC) on the board 4:48 into the game when she broke past the Blazers defense all alone, scoring into the bottom left corner.

Elms (1-7, 1-0 NECC) responded with 5:11 remaining in the first when freshman Madison Messier (Warren, Mass.) blasted a shot past Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) from just inside the left corner of the circle.

The Blazers took the lead with 26:51remaining in regulation. Senior Abby McNulty (Bedford, Mass.) fed a pass from right to left, setting up Messier for a quick shot past the blocker side of Gallo.

Brittney Bebeau tied the game at 2-2 in the 52nd minute when she slipping a shot between the five hole of Elms senior goalie Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.) for her third goal of the season.

With 9:21 remaining in regulation, McNulty made a pass from the top of the circle to freshman Michaela Falk (Southington, Conn.) who was waiting next to the left post. Falk tipped it past Gallo for what proved to be the game winner.
