Women’s Volleyball Sweeps by Becker College, 3-0

LEICESTER, Mass. – Elms College sophomore middle hitter JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) notched a match-best 13 kills and added 11 digs to help pace the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-20) sweep of Becker College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball match.

With the win, Elms concludes its season 4-18 overall, 2-6 in NECC action, while Becker caps its season 2-24 overall, 0-8 in league play.

Elms was led by Pickett's 13 kills, and sophomore middle hitter Christine Searles (Tolland, Mass.) registered a stellar .467 hitting percentage on the strength of eight kills and one error in 15 attempts. She was also tremendous from the service line, flooring nine of the Blazers' 19 aces.

Pickett and senior outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) notched 11 digs each to lead all players in the contest, and sophomore libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) chipped in seven digs to help spark the win.

Senior setter Erika Murphy (Torrington, Conn.) dished out 16 helpers, added five digs and two kills for Elms.

Becker was led by Katelyn Burns (Fall River, Mass.) who tallied six of the Hawks' 12 kills on the afternoon, while Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.) floored four kills.

Burns and Lauren LaVallee (Millbury, Mass.) secured a team-high seven digs each and Joanna Slomiak (Brockton, Mass.) paced the offensive output with 11 assists.
