Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Mount Ida, 16-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior goalkeeper Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, Mass.) notched 13 saves, but Mount Ida College Danielle Chuba (Wrightstown, N.J.) netted seven goals and scooped up five groundballs to help lift the Mustangs to a 16-0 win over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon’s non-conference women’s lacrosse game at Leary Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 0-2 on the season, while Mount Ida remains undefeated and improves to 3-0 overall.

Chuba scored all seven of her goals in the first 30 minutes of play, including the first three and final three of the period to help Mount Ida stake a 10-0 lead at intermission.

The Mustangs’ Jen Thompson (Easton, Md.), who registered two goals in the opening frame, added two more in the second stanza. Stephanie Hill (Madison, Conn.) and Becky Tisbert (Cambridge, Vt.) each found the back of the net twice in the second half to cap the scoring for Mount Ida.

Alexandra Sarno (East Patchogue, N.Y.) scored a goal and assisted on another, while Hill finished with an assist and a game-high 10 draw controls to highlight the winning effort.

Elms’ freshman attacker Chelsey Grabowski (South Hadley, Mass.) earned four ground balls, while junior attacker Jen Lough (Feeding Hills, Mass.) fired two shots on net for the Blazers in the loss.

Elms returns to action on Wednesday, March 24 when it travels to Smith College for a non-conference contest. Game-time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
