CHICOPEE, Mass. – Four members of the Elms College men's swimming team were named to the All-New England Team for their success during the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships last weekend at the University of Rhode Island. Senior Ryan Burgos (Plaistow, N.H.), Nick Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.), junior Nick Bergstrom (Derry, N.H.) and sophomore Michael Grippo (Longmeadow, Mass.) represented the Blazers on the All-New England squad. Athletes are named to the All New England Team after a top 8 individual or a top 4 relay placement.

Burgos earned All-New England honors in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:16.73) and the 1650 yard freestyle. Burgos set new school records in the 1650 free (16:58.70) and the 200 yard with a time of 2:02.33. Cirillo placed third overall in the 200 yard freestyle (1:46.70), fourth in the 500 yard freestyle (4:53.14) and fifth in the 1000 yard freestyle to claim All-New England status in all three events, while setting new school records in the 200 and 1000 yard freestyle.

Bergstrom set a new school-record time of 56.14 in the 100 yard individual medley to finish fourth overall, while placing eighth overall in the 50 yard freestyle (22.61) and the 50 yard butterfly (24.48), receiving All-New England acclaim in all three events. Grippo placed fifth in the 50 yard backstroke and eighth in the 100 yard backstroke, lowering his school records to 26.19 and 56.29, respectively.

"The swimmers did an outstanding job in the pool over the grueling 4 day meet!," said Elms College Head Coach Bill Tyler. "They out did my expectations and then some. Setting ten school records speaks volumes about how well they performed!"
