Jaden Named 2019-20 Froehlich Award of Excellence Winner

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College athletics department has announce Babba Jaden (Clarkston, GA) as the 2019-20 Joachim Froehlich Award of Excellence winner.

This award annually honors one female and one male senior student-athlete for his or her athletic excellence throughout his or her intercollegiate career. In the spirit of Dr. Joachim Froehlich, the successful candidate will be well-rounded by achieving academic and athletic success, have a full understanding of the College's mission and be an inspiration to their teammates and coaches.

            Specific Criteria:

  • Senior student-athlete
  • Four-year varsity athlete***
  • Accomplished a high level of athletic excellence
  • Academic success of a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • An inspiration to their teammates and coaches
  • Understands the Elms College mission

  • Computer Information Technology major (3.3 GPA)
  • Dean's List and NECC All-Academic honors for three years
  • Internship as assistant researcher for Station1 Frontiers Fellowship (SFF)
    • "A unique and exciting residential science and technology-focused educational, research, and internship program with a focus on societal perspective, social innovation and impact."
  • Internship as assistant researcher for Data-Smart City Solutions at the Harvard Kennedy School 
    • "Our research focus is the intersection of government and data, ranging from open data and predictive analytics to civic engagement technology. We seek to promote the combination of integrated, cross-agency data with community data to better discover and preemptively address civic problems."
  • Internship as assistant researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign

His speed, power and technical ability were unmatched over his four years at Elms, and he has the accolades to prove it. But even more impressive was Babba's work-rate in the classroom and in the community. He excelled academically year after year, and in between studying and training, he still found time to impact his community through service and education. Babba is the complete Elms College Student-Athlete, and he couldn't be more deserving of the prestigious, Froelich Award of Excellence," said Coach Wysocki of Jaden.
