Blazers Fall To Lesley In Conference Play

Chicopee, MA- The Elms College men's soccer team lost 2-1 to Lesley University on Saturday at Leary Field. This defeat puts the Blazers at (1-2) in conference and (2-8-3) on the season.

The first half started out with the Blazers immediately on top, dominated possession and controlling the game. Early shots from Alex Egan (Watertown, MA) and Justin Szwajkowski (Westhampton, MA) nearly put Elms in the lead, but Lesley keeper David Crutchfield (Shrewsbury, MA) was there to keep the game scoreless. The game would stay that way until the 20th minute, where Lesley midfielder Jack Wadleigh (Glastonbury, CT) put the Lynx shockingly in front. Then thirteen minutes later in the 33rd minute, Wadleigh got his second and put the Lynx 2 nil up. The Blazers kept pressuring to cut the deficit, however the first 45 minutes ended 2-0.

The second half saw Lesley parking the bus as most of their team was inside their own 30 yards the entire half. The Blazers, looking to get a result, had multiple opportunities to do just that. Chances from Mike Lemke (Bristol, CT), Jonathan Roach (Norwalk, CT) and Jose Ulloa (Stamford, CT) had Elms come close, however they couldn't find the back of the net. That was until Babba Jaden (Clarkston, Georgia) found Elms a goal in the last sixteen seconds of the game. Egan gave the ball to Jaden, who dribbled past four players and proceeded to put the ball into the bottom left corner of the net making it 2-1. It was two little too late for the Blazers as they saw the game finished 2-1.

The Blazers next game is Wednesday, October 16th, away at Worcester State at 7pm. Thanks for the outstanding support today and we hope to see you there under the floodlights at Worcester.
