Men’s Soccer Falls To WNEU In Non-Conference Play

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College men's soccer team lost a non-conference game 3-0 to Western New England University on Wednesday night.  The Blazers stand at 2-7-3 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference.

The game got off to a fast start with both teams getting quality chances, the best coming off the foot of Freshman Justin Szwajkowsk (Westhampton, MA) in the 20th minute. Szwajkowski took on three Golden Bear defenders and got off a shot that looked like it was on its way into the back of the net, however the visitor's keeper would make a great save. The two teams would battle for possession with neither side getting a real opportunity to take the lead. The Golden Bears would break through and open the scoring on a header off of a corner in the 36th minute. The game would go into the break with the visitors up 1-0.

The second half saw WNEU take control of the game, outshooting the Blazers 11-0 and taking 7 corners to the Blazers 0.  The Golden Bears would double their lead to 2-0 at the 49:02 mark, and would put the game away with a third goal in the 67th minute.

Julian Brosi (West Newbury, MA) was big in goal for Elms, making nine saves in the game.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday 10/12 when the host Lesley University in NECC play on Leary Field. This Saturday is also Hall Of Fame weekend at Elms.
