Men’s Soccer Tripped Up At Home In NECC Opener

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College men's soccer team fell to the visiting Eastern Nazarene College Lions on Saturday afternoon (1-0) in their first New England Collegiate Conference contest of the season. The Blazers drop to 1-4-2 overall and 0-1-0 in league play with the outcome.

The guests grabbed an early 1-0 lead just six minutes into the game and were able to make the 1-0 advantage stand up.

Eastern Nazarene held a 1-0 lead at the break while outshooting Elms 12-2 in the opening 45 minutes of action.

The Blazers best chance came in the second half when Pedro Duarte (Chicopee, MA) attempted a bicycle kick into an empty Lions goal, the well struck kick would just miss over the crossbar. Neither squad found the back of the net in the second stanza as the Lions captured the conference win.

Julian Brosi (West Newbury, MA) was huge in net for the Blazers picking up 10 saves in the game.

Elms is back in action on Tuesday 9/24 when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State University at 7:00PM for a non-conference game.
