Men’s Soccer Falls To MIT, 4-1
CAMBRIDGE, MA – Elms College junior
Josh Chagnon (Loudon, NH) netted the Blazers lone
goal in the 87th minute, but it was Massachusetts Institute of
Technology’s (MIT) Zach Kabelac’s (Potomac,
MD) hat-trick in the opening half that downed the Blazers
4-1 in a non-conference men's soccer game Wednesday night in
Cambridge, MA.
With the loss, Elms drops to 3-12 on the season, while the
Engineers improve to 8-6 overall.
MIT freshman Ben Lewis (West Hartford, CT),
sophomore Max Stein-Golenbock (Boston, MA), and
junior Christian Therkelsen (Nesbru, Norway)
assisted Kabelac’s 11th, 12th, and 13th goals of the
season.
With less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half, junior
Peter Bojo (Vienna, VA) crossed the net in time
for junior Chase Anderson (Kenmore, WA) to send
the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the season
and extended the MIT advantage to 4-0.
Despite the deficit, Elms fought until the end. Using a deflected
ball off a corner kick, Chagnon was able to re-direct the ball into
the net for his first tally of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, MA) accumulated seven saves
in the game, while the Engineer’s outshot the Blazers 16-6 in
the contest.
Elms returns to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action
Saturday, Oct. 24 when they face off against Southern Vermont. The
game is slated to start at 3:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
