Men’s Soccer Falls To Daniel Webster In Overtime, 4-3

CHICOPEE, MA- Elms College sophomore Tom
Ferruolo (Arlington, VT) tied the game in the 78th minute,
but Daniel Webster sophomore Spencer Bernard (Windsor
Locks, CT) tallied two goals, including a header for the
game-winner to defeat Elm’s 4-3 in overtime in a New England
Collegiate Conference (NECC) contest Saturday afternoon in Nashua,
NH.
The hard fought loss drops Elms to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the
conference, while the Eagles improve to 5-2 on the season and 2-0
in NECC play.
Daniel Webster got the game rolling quickly with two goals in the
first 11 minutes. Freshman Joel Jerrhag (Ystad,
Sweden) struck first at the 4:41 mark, followed six
minutes later by a Rasmus Ronas (Gotheborg,
Sweden) goal to lift the lead to 2-0.
Elms retaliated with a Tavish Leland (Bridgton,
ME) goal in the 15th minute and tied the game 2-2 early in
the second half with a Sam Senecal (Chicopee, MA)
strike from Leland.
Bernard notched his first goal in the 51st minute and was assisted
by sophomore Alex Jackson (Kent, OH) putting
Daniel Webster up 3-2. Ferruolo then delivered his heroic strike at
the 78:02 mark to tie and eventually send the contest into overtime
where Bernard would end it with a header.
Elms sophomore Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, MA) and
senior Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) split the work
between the pipes recording nine combined saves.
Daniel Webster outshot the Blazers 17-10.
Elm’s next takes on Mount Ida in a non-conference game
Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Leary Field slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
