FRAMINGHAM, MA – Framingham State’s
Robert O’Doherty (Shrewsbury, MA) netted a
pair of goals to help lift the Rams to a 4-0 victory over Elms
College in Wednesday afternoon’s non-conference men’s
soccer game in Framingham.
With the loss, the Blazers drop to 0-2 on the season, while
Framingham State improves to 1-2 overall.
O’Doherty got Framingham State off to a quick start as he
placed a Jason Silva (Milford, MA) pass in the
back of the net just six minutes into the contest. Twenty-five
minutes later, Scott Faria (Fall River, MA) found
Erick Nader (Framingham, MA) for the second goal
of the match, before Silva assisted on his second goal of the game,
this one off the foot of Jepherson Cardoso (Framingham,
MA) at the 44:22 mark.
The Rams added their final tally with nine minutes remaining in the
contest, as O’Doherty controlled a Steve Lesiczka
(Haverhill, MA) pass and scored to give Framingham State
the 4-0 edge.
Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, MA)
turned away 11 shots, while junior midfielder Courtney
Johnson (Belchertown, MA) and junior forward Nick
Espinola (Derry, NH) each blasted two shots for the
Blazers in the losing effort.
Four Framingham State players finished with three shots in the
contest as the Rams out-shot Elms College 21-4.
The Blazers return to the field Saturday, Sept. 12 when they travel
to Springfield College. Kick-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. against
the Pride.
