Blazers Fall in First Round of NECC Tournament at Mitchell

New London, CT – The Elms College women's basketball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night at Mitchell College in the first round of the 2020 New England Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Championship at the Yarnall Athletic Center. The #6 Blazers fell to the #3 Mariners 82-46, Elms rounds out the season with an overall record of (9-17) and (5-9) in league play.

The game opened up with back and forth action with neither team able to build a lead. The Mariners took a four point advantage, and closed the period with a 7-2 spurt to lead 20-11 heading into the second.

A pair of buckets during a 10-0 run in the early stages of the second quarter extended the Mariners lead. Mitchell outscored Elms 23-9 in the stanza en route to a 43-20 lead at intermission.

The lead grew to as many as 37 in the second half as the Mariners continued to pull away, outscoring the Blazers to the tune of 42-12 for the game. The Blazers were unable to mount any momentum and fell to the hosts 82-46.

Lashaunte White (Miami, FL), Tatyana Correia (Providence, R.I.) and Rachel Granger (Hampden, MA) scored eight points apiece to lead the Blazers.
