Women’s Basketball Closes Out 2019 With A 23 Point Win Over Broncos

Danbury, CT – The Elms College women's basketball team defeated the Suny Delhi Broncos 82-59 on Monday afternoon to round out their stay at the Western Connecticut State University Hat City Tournament. The Blazers improve to 4-7 on the season.

Delhi got off to an impressive start that led to an 18-15 lead after the first quarter. The Broncos were held to just two points through the opening six minutes of the second period, Elms took over the game jumping out in front for a 29-22 lead, going into the half up, 37-29. The Blazers outscored the Broncos, 47-22, in the second and third quarters. Elms also held a 52-40 lead in rebounds for the game, and turned 26 Delhi turnovers into a 32-10 advantage in points off turnovers.

Elms had three player score in double digits. Lashaunte White (Miami, FL) led the way again with 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Daija Black (Germantown, MD) poured in 13 points to go with five rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Regina LeBlanc (Enfield, CT) would pitch in with 10 points and seven assists.

White was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance over the two games.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday 1/4 when they host Eastern Nazarene College at 1PM in NECC action.
