Blazers Fall to Saxons in Opening Game Of The Hat City Tournament

Danbury, CT – The Elms College women's basketball team returned to the hardwood after a two week break at the Hat City Tournament, hosted by Western Connecticut State University. The Blazers came up short in the 64-51 loss to Alfred University. The setback puts Elms at 3-7 on the season.

The Blazers got off to a slow start and trailed by six after the first quarter. Elms came out in the second quarter and dominated shooting 53.8 percent from the field, outscoring Saxons 19-15. The Blazers went into the break trailing by two.

Alfred would take back control of the game, outscoring Elms 21-12 in the third quarter, taking an 11 point lead into the fourth quarter.

The Blazers battled throughout the final quarter, but the deficit would be too big to overcome, eventually dropping the game 64-51.

Lashaunte White (Miami, FL) led Elms with 13 points and five rebounds. 

The Blazers will take on Suny Delhi in the consolation.
