Parks Named to D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region Third Team
CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College junior women's basketball player Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named to the D3hoops.com 2014 All-Northeast Region Third Team as recently announced by the organization.
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and regional voting was then conducted among SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region. Parks becomes Elms' first basketball player – male or female – to garner selection to a D3hoops.com all region team.
Parks, who is now Elms' all-time leading scorer and was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year, averaged 22.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Following the 2013-14 campaign, Parks was named First Team All-NECC for the third consecutive season.
Parks connected on 47.6-percent of her shots and 78.0 percent of her free throws during NECC action. Parks, a three-time all-conference first team selection, reached double figures in points in all 18 conference games during the campaign, and scored more than 30 points in five league games including a collegiate career-high 39 against Southern Vermont College which tied the program's individual single-game record. Parks also pulled down double-digit rebounds in 12 conference games. Parks also set the program's individual single-season scoring record with 616 points breaking her own record of 545 points set last season. Parks netted 411 of those points in conference play.
