Men's Soccer Falls to Lesley University in Overtime, 2-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Elms College freshman forward Joelle Reyes (Lynn, Mass.) netted the game's first goal, but Lesley University's Ari Sinanis (Guilford, Conn.) scored the game-winner on a penalty kick nine minutes into overtime to lift the Lynx to a 2-1 win over the Blazers in Saturday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer game at Edward Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 3-6 overall, 1-2 in NECC action, while Lesley improves to 7-2-1 overall, 1-1 in league play.

Reyes gave Elms an early 1-0 lead when he scored an unassisted goal in the 20th minute of play.

Lesley's Ali Sozeri (Istanbul, Turkey) registered the equalizer on a pass from Joe Petit (Salem, Mass.) in the 47th minute to cap the scoring in regulation.

Elms' senior goalkeeper Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, Mass.) made seven of his nine saves in the final 45 minutes of play to help force the extra period of play.

Sinanis then scored his game-winner at the 98:21 mark to give the Lynx the victory.

Lesley keeper Max Perkins (Lexington, Mass.) turned away six shots in the winning effort.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Monday, Oct. 3 when it hosts Emmanuel College at 7:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
