Men’s Soccer Falls to Becker College, 2-0

LEICESTER, Mass. – Elms College senior goalkeeper Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, Mass.) turned away seven shots, but Becker College netted the game-winning goal in the 41st minute on a score by Jinaldo DeBrito (New Bedford, Mass.) to lift the Hawks to a 2-0 victory over the Blazers in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer game at Alumni Field.

With the loss, Elms slips to 3-10 overall, 1-4 in NECC action, while Becker improves to 3-10-2 on the season, 2-3 in league play.

After 40 minutes of scoreless soccer, Becker took advantage of a turnover in Elms' defensive third of the field allowing DeBrito to score the first goal of the contest.

The Hawks added to their lead in the 63rd minute when Tim Howard (Paxton, Mass.) delivered a pass to Aldo Karkanjozi (Sterling Heights, Mich.) who drilled a shot into the bottom right corner of the net to set the score at 2-0.

Becker held a 17-9 shot advantage over the Blazers as Hawks' goalkeeper Tim McDonald (Holden, Mass.) made six stops to keep Elms off the board.

Elms returns to NECC road action on Tuesday, Oct. 18 when it takes on Mitchell College in New London, Conn. At 3:30 p.m.
