Men's Soccer Places Three on All-NECC Teams
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Elms College men's soccer team had three players named All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) as announced by the organization on Monday.
Blazers' junior forward Tavish Leland (Bridgton, Maine), sophomore forward Ziggy Jonathan (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman defender Conor Rieker (Agawam, Mass.) were each named Second Team All-NECC.
Leland registered four goals and four assists during conference action in 2011 and totaled nine in each category during the entire campaign. Three of Leland's assists against the NECC came in a single contest - a 3-2 victory over Regis College.
Jonathan was Elms' leading scorer during the season as he totaled eight goals and four assists against league competition and registered a hat trick in a win over Wheelock College. Jonathan finished the 2011 season with 14 total goals and six assists, his non-conference highlight being a four-goal effort against Rivier College.
Rieker secured his slot on the all-conference second team thanks to his stellar performance in the Blazers' defensive third of the field. Rieker helped Elms post three consecutive league wins over league rivals to close out the regular season and earn an NECC Championship tournament appearance. He scored twice during conference play with goals against Mitchell College and Wheelock.
