Field Hockey Falls At New England College

HENNIKER, N.H. – Senior Kayla Donahue netted her second and third goals of the season in the first six minutes of play on Saturday afternoon against Elms College.

 With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 3-3 on the season while Elms falls to 0-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
NEC's Kayla Donahue opened up the scoring with two in the first six minutes of game play. Those are good for her second and third of the season.

Off of a penalty corner, Audrey Clark received the pass at the top of the arc. After making a move to get open she slapped a pass right to Donahue who tipped it into the goal.

Only a few minutes later, Donahue found the back of the net for her second of the game after a feed from Krissie Borrero. Borrero drove the right side of the field and hit
Donahue who was cutting to the left side of the net. She one touched it past the goalkeeper.

With under ten minutes remaining in the half, Maddie Tkachuk found herself set up on the right post. Brittany Tierney had a number advantage driving down the middle of the field and found the open Tkachuk who made no mistake with her opportunity and extended the lead for the Pilgrims with her first of the season.

Borrero finished off the scoring for the Pilgrims late in the game. She found herself on a breakaway after a feed from Tierney. She made a move and a head fake and beat Jillian Lapponese, the Blazers' goalkeeper.

GOALTENDERS
NEC's Michaela Clark and Amandaline Tibbals combined for the shut out making three saves combined while Lapponese made 12 saves.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Pilgrims are back in action on Tuesday when they host Anna Maria at Don Melander Field at 4 PM. Elms hosts Rivier in non-conference play Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
