Baseball Outlasted By Haverford, 8-5
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Elms College sophomore
infielder Andrew Kravontka (Manchester, Conn.) was
2 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored, but Haverford held on
for an 8-5 victory over the Blazers in Monday morning baseball
action at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
First-year left-hander John Russell (Springfield,
Mass.) suffered the loss, but tossed four solid innings in
his first collegiate start. Freshman righty Ryan Burnette
(Chicopee, Mass.) tossed three scorless frames in relief,
allowing just two hits while fanning three hitters.
Junior shortstop Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley,
Mass.) and freshman outfielder Stephen Fisher
(West Boylston, Mass.) each smacked a pair of hits and
drove in a run to pace the Blazers' offensive efforts.
Elms returns to the diamond on Tuesday, March 9 with a 12:00 p.m.
contest against Dubuque.
