North, Capoldo Lead Blazers at USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn.Brittany North and Edward Capoldo led the Elms College men's and women's swim teams as the Blazers competed against Saint Joseph (CT) and Western Connecticut at Saint Joseph on Friday evening.

Capoldo won two of the three individual events he entered, including the men's 100 yard freestyle (53.11) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:34.69) to demonstrate his versatility. He finished second the 100 yard IM in one minute flat and helped two successful Blazer relays. He anchored Elms' winning 200 freestyle relay (1:43.65), making up nearly six seconds on WestConn's relay team in the anchor spot to propel Elms across the finish line. Capoldo also swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay, helping Elms to a second-place finish (1:55.43).

North had one individual win and two second-place finishes. She won the women's 200 yard backstroke in 2:28.86, nearly six second ahead of the nearest competitor. She also finished second in the 50 yard backstroke (32.79) and the 50 yard butterfly (31.49), and helped the Elms 200 medley relay to a second place finish (2:11.52).

The Blazers return to action for their home-opener on Nov. 17 at 1:00 p.m. against UMass.-Dartmouth in Partyka Natatorium.
