Women's Swimming Falls At WNE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Elms College women's swimming team fell 148-105 at Western New England University on Wednesday afternoon.

Kelly Scianna led the Blazers by winning all three of her individual events to net 27 points. She swam the 50-yard backstroke (32.03), 50-yard freestyle (27.77) and 500-yard freestyle (5:51.91), and also helped the Elms 200-yard freestyle relay team to a second-place finish (1:54.68), less than a tenth of a second away from the top spot.

Brittany North added a first- and two second-place individual finishes to grab 17 points for Elms. North won the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.68) and took second in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.29) and 200-yard individual medley.

Cricket Cavar helped Elms with a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:21.09), a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (30.11) and a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

 The Blazers will return to action on Jan. 12 at 1:00 p.m. against Norwich at home.
