Three Wins For Blazer Swimming

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College swimming picked up three wins on Wednesday afternoon in Partyka Natatorium as the Blazer women swept a double-dual against Western New England (129-123) and Colby-Sawyer (135-99) while the men topped Colby-Sawyer by a score of 88-45.

For the second time in five days, the women's meet was decided in the final relay. The Blazers 200-meter freestyle relay of Julianne Gordon, Cricket Cavar, Brittany North and Kelly Scianna edged WNE by less than three-tenths of a second, finishing in 2:05.14 while the Golden Bears were second in 2:05.43.

North broke a program record for the second consecutive week, winning the 200-meter butterfly in 2:53.40 to take more than three seconds off the previous record, set in 2013. She also broke the program's 400 IM record on Jan. 12.

Eddie Capoldo claimed a pair of first-place finishes for the Elms men. He took medalist honors in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing in 1:19.22 as well as the 200-meter freestyle after finishing in 2:11.19.

The Blazers will compete at Regis on Jan. 19 before returning home for their final home meet of the season on Jan. 26 against the University of New England.
