Women’s Lacrosse Comes up Short in NECC Championship

Leicester, MA – The Elms College women's lacrosse team fell to the Becker Hawks 15-4 on Sunday afternoon in the New England Collegiate Conference Championship Game.

The second half proved to be the decisive half of the Championship Game following a close first half between Becker and Elms, which saw the Hawks leading 6-4.

The game hung in the balance over the first 10 minutes, with both teams dug in defensively while rain began to fall in the Title Game.

But four goals over the next 2:24 helped the Hawks pull away further from the Blazers. Four different Hawks scored in the run that saw Becker take control 11-4.

Another three-goal run over 48 seconds in the final minutes left little doubt in the outcome of the Championship Game, as the Hawks led 14-4.

The home side added one more goal, taking the championship 15-4.

Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) led the way for the Blazers with 2 goals, 6 ground balls, and 3 draw controls. Elese Ciarcia (Glastonbury, CT) and Arianna Callahan (West Springfield, MA) each added a goal in the game. Emma Walsh (Dracut, MA) was big in goal for the Blazers, racking up 15 saves in the championship game.
