Wilkins Named Head Coach of Women’s Lacrosse

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Athletic Department has announced Quincy Wilkins (Wilbraham, MA) as its new head coach for Women's Lacrosse.

Wilkins joins the Elms athletics staff after one year as the Head Coach Anna Maria College. She directed the AMCATS to a 2-1 start and a two-game winning streak before the suspension of the season due to COVID-19. This was also the program's first win since 2012.

When asked about Coach Wilkins taking over the Women's Lacrosse program, Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Theulen had this to say "It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that I announce the addition of Quincy Wilkins as our next Women's Lacrosse Coach.  Quincy has developed a great coaching resume in a very short period of time after a highly successful playing career at Assumption College.  She will positively impact our Blazer Athletic Family immediately as a coach, a mentor, and a role model."

During her time with Anna Maria, Wilkins led the program to most goals scored in three games (35). She also led the program in the least amount of goals scored against in three games (34).

Wilkins had this about joining the Blazers. "I am thrilled to join the Elms College family as the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.  Elms College and the city of Chicopee present an empowering environment to continue the building of a competitive women's lacrosse program for the community to enjoy. I want to thank Dr. Michael Theulen, Michelle Proulx, and the rest of the search committee for believing in me and sharing my vision of the future for this program. With COVID-19 interrupting this past season, the women's lacrosse team has unfinished business to take care of. That being said, I can not wait to step out on Leary Field come spring."

In addition to Wilkins' duties at Anna Maria, she helped coach part-time for Central Laxachusetts, an off-shoot of Boston Laxachusetts one of the premier club programs in New England.

Prior to Anna Maria, Wilkins was an Assistant Coach at King's College located in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania from 2017-2019. In her first season with the Monarchs, she helped King's produce top five seasons in goals, assists, draw controls, points, and ground balls. She assisted as a position team leader for the offense as well as working with the goalies. To conclude that 2018 season, six student-athletes received the honor of MAC Freedom All-Conference, two received MAC Freedom First Team and four received MAC Freedom Second Team. In her second season, Wilkins continued to work with both the offense and goalies while helping to bring the Monarchs to their second streak appearance in the MAC Freedom Tournament. She also assisted in King's Women's Lacrosse Clinics and Prospect Days as the offensive coordinator.

During her time at King's College, Wilkins also graduated with a Masters in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction.

While in Northeast Pennsylvania, Wilkins also hopped on as a club coach for the NEPA Grit Lacrosse Club. Here she prepared high school athletes for special competitions and tournaments and introduced games and skills. This helped students to better develop their skill levels. She also evaluated individual knowledge, skills, strengths, and assigned team positions.

Wilkins graduated from Assumption College in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Human Services and Rehabilitation.

Wilkins was a four-year letter winner for the Assumption College Women's Lacrosse team. She concluded her career playing in 56 games and tallying 85 points on 44 goals and 41 assists with 31 ground balls, 19 draws, and 18 caused turnovers.

As a 2013 graduate at Minnechaug Regional High School, she was a three-time All-Conference selection for the varsity girls lacrosse team. She was a Division 1 Western Massachusetts Lacrosse All-Star, along with being the all-time Assist Leader. She concluded her high school career with 320 points on 105 goals and 215 assists. She was also a member of both the Lax Plus Lacrosse Club and Western Mass All-Stars.
