Women’s Lacrosse Sweeps Season Series with Mitchell

New London, CT – The Elms College women's lacrosse team picked up an 18-8 decision over Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon in a New England Collegiate Conference showdown.  

The Blazers used a balanced scoring attack to improve to 3-1 (3-1 NECC) on the season. Taylor Borla (Southington, CT)Arianna Callahan (West Springfield, MA)Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) and Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) netted four goals apiece to lead the way while Bryce McDonald (Dracut, MA) also tallied a pair. 

Elms scored the first five goals of the game and never trailed at any point. Callahan accounted for a pair of scores in the first 10 minutes as the Blazers opened the game strong. Mitchell got on the scoreboard with a goal at the 16:29 mark.

Elms led 10-5 at intermission with the help of four goals from Callahan. Borla and Pikul each chipped in two goals in the stanza. 

The Blazers scored eight of the first nine goals in the second half to open up a double-digit lead, and eventually took the win 18-8. Paier potted three in the final period while Borla and Pikul each added a pair. Elms goalie Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA made 11 saves to pick up her first win of the season. 

The Blazers are back in action on Sunday 4/25 at 12pm when they travel to Becker College.
