WLAX Falls to Becker

Leicester, MA – The Elms College lacrosse team dropped an away game to the Becker College Hawks on Sunday afternoon 14-8 in New England Collegiate Conference play.

The Hawks were in control early in the first half, scoring the first six goals of the game in the first 21 minutes to lead 6-0. The Blazers scored their only goal of the half with 8:19 remaining on a goal from sophomore Taylor Borla (Southington, CT) to cut the deficit to 6-1, as that score held until the half.

Elms started a comeback early in the second half, scoring twice in the first five minutes to trail by three. Borla and sophomore Anna-Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) netted the goals for the Blazers, who trailed 6-3. Becker responded quickly with two goals in 42 seconds putting the Hawks back ahead by five.

Elms again got within three goals on goals by Pikul and freshman Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) to cut the deficit to 8-5. But the Hawks outscored the Blazers 7-3 in the final 12:54, including three goals by Conway, as the Hawks continued their winning streak, now sitting at five games in the 14-8 victory.

The Blazers will travel to New England College on Wednesday 4/29 for a New England Collegiate College semi-final game.
