Blazers Dominate Mariners on Senior Day

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Lacrosse Team hosted the Mitchell College Mariners on Tuesday night at Leary Field in New England Collegiate Conference action. The Blazers defeated the visiting Mariners (19-4), pushing their record to 2-1 on the season.

The visitors jumped out front early, scoring at the 25:45 mark. The Blazers answered with the next four goals and took a (4-1) lead. The two team teams would exchange goals and leave the home side with a slim (5-3) lead. EC then erupted for nine straight goals, extending the lead to (14-3) at the half. The biggest goal on the frame came of the stick of senior Erienne Dowe (Somers, CT) who was celebrating her senior night.

Elms continued to dominate the action in the second half, outscoring Mitchell 5-1 and eventually taking the home game (19-4). Elise Pikul (Belchertown, MA) led the way for the Blazers with five goals, six draw controls, and five groundballs. Taylor Borla (Southington, CT), Bryce McDonald (Dracut, MA), Elese Ciarcia (Glastonbury, CT), and Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) had three goals each in the game.

Emma Walsh (Dracut, MA) and Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) split the game in net for Elms and combined for five saves.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday 4/17 at 1PM when they travel to Mitchell College.
