Women's Lacrosse Falls at University of St. Joseph (Conn.), 16-5

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Elms College sophomore attacker Nora McDonough (South Hadley, Mass.) scored three goals for the Blazers, but the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) scored 13 first-half goals to help seal a 16-5 victory in Monday afternoon's non-league women's lacrosse game in West Hartford, Conn.

With the loss, Elms moves to 5-8 on the season, while St. Joseph improves to 4-9 overall.

St. Joseph scored the first eight goals of the contest before freshman attacker Ashley Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.) put Elms on the board with a tally at the 14:43 mark of the first stanza.

The Blue Jays scored five of the next six goals save for a marker by McDonough with 2:50 remaining in the half to set the score at 13-2 after 30 minutes of play.

Both teams scored three times in the second half as McDonough found the back of the net for the first two goals of the frame to set the score at 13-4. St. Joseph answered with three straight goals before Cava added the final tally with 2:18 to play in the game.

Eliza Doane (Suffield, Conn.) led the Blue Jays with five goals, while Rachel Foster (Newington, Conn.) added three scores to highlight the win.

Elms' senior attacker Chelsey Grabowski (South Hadley, Mass.) led the team with three groundballs while three players notched three groundball pickups for the Blue Jays.

Brianna Tenore (Rocky Hill, Conn.) (2-6) made seven saves in the winning effort for St. Joseph. Elms played two women down the entire game.

Elms concludes its regular season when it hosts Wheelock College in league play on Saturday, April 27 at 5:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
