Mazza, Murphy Named All-NECC in Women’s Lacrosse
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore attacker Lauren Mazza (Agawam, Mass.) was named First Team All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) and senior defender Erika Murphy (Torrington, Conn.) was named Honorable Mention All-NECC as announced by the league office on Monday.
Mazza scored a team-high 43 goals during the 2013 season, including a team-high 23 during NECC action. Mazza also scooped four groundballs and won a pair of draws against NECC competition helping the Blazers secure the fourth-seed in the first-ever NECC Championship tournament.
Murphy was named Honorable Mention All-NECC after collecting 21 groundballs – a team-high mark during league action, and causing 14 opponent turnovers (also a team-best mark). She was a force in the defensive third of the field in her first season as a lacrosse player.
