Softball Claims # 5 Seed In NECC Playoffs

MARSHFIELD, Mass - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced the seeds for the 2019 Softball Championship after the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday afternoon.

After posting a 14-2 conference record, Eastern Nazarene has claimed the No. 1 seed in the tournament earning hosting rights next week.

Sitting at No. 2 is New England College who also finished NECC play at 14-2 and will host a game next week. During the regular season the Lions swept the Pilgrims in head to head competition to break the two-way tie.

Claiming the No. 3 seed is Becker (12-4) who will host No. 6 Newbury (5-11) in the opening round on Tuesday, April 30th while No. 4 Lesley (11-5) will host No. 5 Elms (8-8).

The winner of Becker and Newbury will travel to New England College on Thursday, May 2nd while the winner of Lesley and Elms will head to Eastern Nazarene.

The opening round begins on Tuesday, April 30th for a single elimination stage. Double elimination play then begins on Thursday, May 2nd the No. 1 and No. 2 sites. On Saturday, May 4th Eastern Nazarene will host games five through seven followed by game eight on Sunday with an if necessary game nine.
