Blazers Split Double-Header At Bay Path In Regular-Season Finale; Await NECC Tournament Seed

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Elms College softball team picked up a New England Collegiate Conference split at Bay Path to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, falling 5-0 in game one before winning 7-0 in game two.

The Blazers (15-16, 10-6 NECC) will await the results of the last few NECC matchups before learning who and where they will play an NECC Tournament play-in game on May 1.

GAME 1 – Bay Path 5, Elms 0
The Blazers were held to just four hits in a 5-0 loss to open the day. Bay Path got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the fourth before tacking on another in the bottom of the sixth to cruise to victory.

Madison Messier (Warren, Mass.), Catharine Wrang (Middletown, Conn.), Tyla Risucci (Watertown, Conn.) and Tea Sullivan (Dracut, Mass.) each singled for the Blazers in the game, but Elms was unable to get a runner past third base.

Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, Conn.) gave up eight hits in six innings while striking out four Bay Path batters. Felicia Gaillardetz, meanwhile struck out 10 Elms batters in seven innings of work while allowing just four hits and two walks.

GAME 2 – Elms 7, Bay Path 0
The Elms offense came alive in the second game of Saturday's double-header, as the Blazers earned the split with a 7-0 victory.

Risucci led the way for Elms, going 3-for-4 with an RBI while Katelyn Sylvia (Southwick, Mass.) added two hits and an RBI. Seven different Blazers drove in a run in the game, as Messier, Elizabeth Olszewski (Canterbury, Conn.), Lusardi, Raeanna Tumel (Stafford, Conn.), and Sullivan all had one RBI.

Tumel pitched a complete game for Elms, scattering six hits without allowing a run or a walk and racking up five strikeouts. Madison Goodhart went the distance with three strikeouts and four walks for Bay Path.
