Swimming Set Records at 2016 NEISDA Championships

SOUTH KINGSTON, R.I. – The Elms College men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the 2015-16 season by set new school records at the 2016 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship at the Tootell Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.

Junior Nick Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.) set a new Elms school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.76, which qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. Cirillo took fourth in the 1650 yard freestyle (17:37.35) and ninth in the 500 yard freestyle (4:55.64). Junior Ryan Burgos (Plaistow, N.H.) notched a new school record in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:03.83, along with a tenth-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle (4:55.68). Senior James Grippo (Longmeadow, Mass.) placed eighth in the 400 yard individual medley (4:44.30), 13th in the 200 yard butterfly (2:11.32), and 15th in the 200 yard backstroke (2:09.53). Sophomore DJ Sherman (Winstead, Conn.) clocked in 12th in the 400 yard individual medley (4:45.55) and 13th in the 100 IM (1:01.73), while senior Misha Kuyuzov (Swampscott, Mass.) finished 13th in the 200 IM (2:15.71). Freshman Michael Grippo (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished 13th in the 100 yard backstroke (58.15) and the 100 yard individual medley (27.63). The 800 yard relay team of Cirillo, Michael Grippo, James Grippo, and Ryan Burgos clocked a new school record with a time of 7:31.14.

On the women's side, the relay team of sophomore Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.), senior Crystal Archibald (Portland, Maine), and freshmen Kayla Gurney (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Desi Milar (Springfield, Mass.) finished 14th in the 400 yard relay (4:44.04) and 16th in the 200 yard relay (2:06.65).
