CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Elms College men's soccer team was dealt a 3-2 overtime loss by host Pine Manor College in a non-conference contest Wednesday afternoon at Hedley Field. The Blazers dip to 0-4 on the campaign, while the Gators improve to 2-1-1.

In the 17th minute of play, Pine Manor senior Jahvar Gayle (Bloomfield, Conn.) received a pass on the right side, slipped through two Blazers defenders and found the back of the net to hand the Gators a 1-0 lead.

With 10:42 remaining in the first half, the Blazers found an equalizer as sophomore Babba Jaden (Clarkston, Ga.) gathered a pass from freshman Myles Hurley (Manchester, Conn.) at the 18' mark and tucked a shot inside the near post to even the score at 1-1. The score remained at 1-1 heading into halftime.

In the 55th minute of play, Pine Manor regained the lead as sophomore Raudel Gomez (Eagle Pass, Texas) lofted a cross to freshman Andree Hernandez (San Antonio, Texas), who finished at the top of the box to put the Gators on top, 2-1.

In the waning minutes of regulation, the Blazers sent the match into overtime as junior Colby Macdonald (Bristol, Conn.) launched a cross to the left side where Jaden elevated for a header past Pine Manor junior keeper Angel Pena (Eagle Pass, Texas) to force overtime tied at 2-2.

Just over two minutes into the bonus period, the Gators found the game-winner as Gayle played a ball to Hernandez, who placed a shot past Elms freshman keeper AJ Oliviera (Beacon Falls, Conn.) to send Pine Manor to the 3-2 win.

The Gators edged the Blazers in the shot column, 14-13, during the contest. Oliviera made five saves for Elms, while Pena stopped two shots.

The Blazers will look to move into the win column when they travel to Brandeis University for a non-conference tilt Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Gators host Southern Vermont Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
