Men's Soccer Falls At Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's soccer team defeated Elms 3-0 in non-conference action Thursday evening at Vendetti Field.

Junior Gregory Giglio (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal at 23:32 of the first half and added an assist later in the game to lead the Bison to their first win of the season.

The Bison outshot the Blazers 20-17 for the game – including 12-5 in shots on goal. Nichols led 1-0 at the break before adding two more goals to seal the win in the second half.

Senior Paul Sickinger (Tyngsboro, Mass.) potted his second goal of the season at 48:54 on an assist from graduate student Ryan Banker (Ashaway, R.I.).

Sophomore Matt Baker (Rollinsford, N.H.) capped the scoring at 52:19 after one-timing a free kick from Giglio into the net.

Giglio had a game-high six shots in the game while junior Cole Houghton (Gorham, Maine) chipped in with three shots. The Blazers were led by junior Colby Macdonald (Bristol, Conn.) with six shots and sophomore Babba Jaden (Clarkston, Ga.) provided four.

Junior Patrick Porpora (Westminster, Mass.) stopped five shots in the win while freshman AJ Oliviera (Beacon Falls, Conn.) made nine saves in the loss.

 

All-Time Series

This was the first win for the Bison against the Blazers since 2005 while Elms still owns the lead in the all-time series at, 5-2-0.
