Baseball Falls In Both Ends Of Doubleheader With SJU


FT. MYERS, FL. – Elms College baseball wrapped up its stay in Florida dropping two games to St. John's Minn. The Blazers finish the trip 2-7.

 

SJU 13, Elms 2

Elms would take an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning when Thomas Slane (Tolland, CT.)  crushed a 2-run home run. Kevin Banas (Hatfield, MA) was able to keep SJU off the board until the top of the 6th inning.

The Johnnies erased the 2-0 deficit with 13 runs in the top of the 6th, mixing timely hits with Blazer errors to take game one.

 

 SJU 2, Elms 1

Game 2 was well played by both teams, and would come down to SJU's last at bat.

The Johnnies would take a 1 run lead in the bottom of the 3rd on a sac fly from Aaron Kloeppner (Dayton, MN).

The Blazers would tie things up in the top of the 6th on a Cam Griffin (West Springfield, MA.) single that scored Alex Hoss (Stafford Springs CT.).

SJU would not be denied and in the bottom of the 7th walked off after Tommy Auger (ST. Cloud, MN.) doubled in Alex Budde (Cold Spring, MN.)

Brandon Bennett pitched 6 strong innings for the Blazers.

Elms is back in action on Tuesday the 19th when they travel to Albertus Magnus College for a 9 inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm.
