Blazers Handle Bulldogs, Advance to NECC Semi-Finals

Chicopee, MA - The Elms College women's volleyball team defeated the Visiting Dean College Bulldogs in straight sets on Tuesday night with set scores of (25-10, 25-8, and 28-18). With the win the Blazers advance the New England Collegiate Conference semi-finals. Elms will travel to New England College on Friday 11/8 and face the #2 Pilgrims.

The Blazers showed why they were they higher seed, never trailing once in the match. Elms would take control right from the start, opening up a 23-8 lead. A kill from Jaylianna Ramos (Toa Alta, P.R.) would seal the opening set win 25-10.

The second set saw more domination from the Blazers. Elms would jump out to a 19-7 lead on a kill from Laura Jensen (Torrance, CA). Elms would only allow one more point in the set, taking it 25-8.

The third set would be the most competitive, but still saw the Blazers control the match. The Bulldogs would score their highest set total with 18 points, but were unable to ever take a lead, eventually dropping the set and the match on a service error.

Ramos was big for Elms registering a double-double with 16 kills and 16 digs, Dakota Stewart (Victoria, TX) was the match leader in assists with 20 and Kianna Lozada (Bayamon, P.R.) added 14 digs for Elms.

The Blazers will travel to New England College on Friday 11/8 at 7PM for an NECC semi-finals match, and a spot in the conference championship,
