Women's Volleyball Sweeps Past Lancers

WORCESTER, MA - The Elms College women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Worcester State University Thursday evening in non-conference action on the road at John P. Brissette Court, (25-23, 25, 23, 25-14). With the win, the Blazers improve to 9-7 overall, 1-1 in conference.

The first set went back and forth between the Blazers and Lancers, with seven ties and three lead changes throughout the set. Elms looked sharp offensively with 15 kills in the set, led by seven from Jaylianne Ramos (Toa Alta, P.R.). The Blazers closed out the set on a kill from Dakota Stewart (Victoria, TX).

Elms won the first five points of the second set and were able to hold on to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The Lancers came back from as many as seven points down to tie the set at 23-23, but back-to-back Natalia Caraballo (Fajardo, P.R.) kills won the set for the Blazers.

The third and final set was all Elms right from the start as the Blazers were able to complete the sweep.

Ramos was the match leader with 16 kills on the evening, Kianna Lozada (Bayamon, P.R.) led all players with 12 digs for the Blazers, Hannah Adams (Deerfield, MA) would pitch in with 10. Stewart would lead the way in assists with 29.

The Blazers are back on the court Saturday 10/12 when they host NECC opponent Mitchell College at 11AM and a non-conference match, and at 1PM against Framingham State University. The 11AM match will be the anual diversity game.
