Women's Volleyball Falls At Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. - The Elms College women's volleyball team was defeated in straight set, 3-0, against host Daniel Webster in a NECC matchup Saturday at Mario Vagge Gym.

The Eagles, who posted a trifecta of 25-11 set scores, improved to 16-7 overall (4-1 NECC) pulling even with two previous DWC teams for second most wins in a single season. The Eagles are now 8-1 over their previous nine and 12-3 over their last 15.

Elms (5-16, 2-2 NECC) was paced by six kills from freshman Hannah Adams (Deerfield, Mass.). Sophomore Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) picked up five kills and tied for the team lead with eight digs. Senior Carolyn Campbell (Millers Falls, Mass.) posted 12 assists.

Brooke Marcotte (Pelham, N.H.) and Rebecca Hoffman (Andover, Mass.) chipped in with four kills apiece for DWC while Amanda Gendron (Mt. Vernon, N.H.) knocked down five aces with three kills.

Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) finished with 26 assists to go over the 1,500-assist mark for her career, making her only the second setter in Eagle history to reach that plateau. Roulier, meanwhile played in her 100th career-match, just the third Eagle to reach the century mark (she stands fourth in sets played).

DWC trailed only once in the match and allowed only four ties. The hosts hit .375 - their second best percentage of the season - doubling up the Blazers in total kills, 32-16. DWC also finished with decisive advantages in aces (15-1) and assists (29-13).

The Eagles hit .310 in the opener with Koehler picking up five kills and then sizzled at .421 in the second as Koehler knocked down another four. DWC finished hitting .417 in the third with five more Koehler kills and three from Roulier.

Redding would post four kills in the second set for Elms, while Adams picked up three in the third.

DWC plays their next three in the road. The Eagles visit Lesley (4-0 NECC, 7-11 overall) on Tuesday in a key NECC battle at 8:00 p.m. Elms visits NECC foe Bay Pathon Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
