Women's Volleyball Releases 2016 Slate

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College women's volleyball Head Coach Sheila Gisbrecht (ninth season) has unveiled the Blazers upcoming schedule for the fall of 2016, The Green and Gold are slated to hit the court 24 times, including 10 matches at Picknelly Arena and eight New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contests.

The Blazers will open the season by hosting their annual Blazer Invitational, where they will welcome Albertus Magnus, SUNY-Cobleskill, and York (Pa.) to Picknelly Arena for two days of action on September 2-3. Elms will be on the road for their next nine matches, including an appearance at the Western New England Invitational on September 10 and the SUNY-Plattsburgh tournament on September 16-17. The Blazers wrap the road trip at Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Sept. 22) and with a tri-match at Westfield State (Sept. 24) before returning to Picknelly Arena to face Pine Manor on September 28.

Elms opens October with a non-conference home tilt against Eastern Nazarene (Oct. 1), and then kick off the NECC season at Mitchell on October 4. The Blazers host a three-match home stand when they battle Lesley and Castleton in a tri-match on October 8, followed by a visit from Southern Vermont on October 13. Elms wraps up the season with six straight NECC contests, following the SVC match with trips to Daniel Webster (Oct. 15), Bay Path (Oct. 18), and Becker (Oct. 26), while hosting Regis (Oct. 22) and Newbury in their regular season finale on October 29.

The NECC tournament begins with a pair of quarterfinal matches on November 2, followed by the semifinals on November 4 and the championship match on November 6.
