Mid-Season Woes Continue for Women's Lacrosse After a Loss at Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Norwich University in conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers would strike first when senior midfielder/attacker Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, Maine)  would score an unassisted goal to give Elms a 1-0 lead. Norwich would score three straight goals after this, but Elms cut into the deficit when Frankwicz scored another goal, this time assisted by junior attacker/midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.) to keep the game within recap. After this goal, the Elms defense failed to contain the Cadets, as Norwich scored eight unanswered goals to go up 11-2. The Frankwicz-Cronin connection would strike again for Elms after this, as Frankwicz would record her third goal of the game for Elms. After this, first year Lily Sheridan (Ashby, Mass.) would score for the Blazers. Elms would be unable to score a flurry of goals after this, and Norwich continued to add on to their tally, beating the Blazers 19-4.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Frankwicz would record three goals and a draw control.

  • Cronin would make two assists, 12 draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

  • Sheridan would score one goal.

  • First years Ava Maffuccio (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Ali Sullivan (Chicopee, Mass.) would record a combined three ground balls.

  • Junior goaltender Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) would make 12 saves of the 31 shots she faced, along with two ground balls.

UP NEXT: The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team will travel to Providence, R.I. to face Johnson & Wales University in a conference matchup on Tuesday, April 8th at 4 pm.
