Early Season Woes Continue for Women's Lacrosse

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Mount Holyoke College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

BASICS
Score: Elms College 8 | Mount Holyoke College 19
Records: Blazers 0-3, 0-1 (GNAC) | Lyons 2-1, 0-0 (NEWMAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mount Holyoke would come out of the gate strong, where they would score the first four goals in the first quarter. After a clear attempt made by Elms, MHC would foul the Blazers. Junior attack/midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.) would pass the ball to senior midfielder/attack Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) who would score the first goal for Elms. After a ground ball pick up made by goaltender Marisa LaRocque (Agawam, Mass.), Frankwicz was able to make another goal with a little over a minute left in the first quarter. Elms would end the first quarter with a draw control, but would be behind the Lyons, 6-2. Going into the second quarter, we would see a similar narrative where Mount Holyoke would be the first ones to score. They were able to put up four more goals before sophomore midfielder Rachel Dort (Chicopee, Mass.) would score. Before the end of the second quarter, MHC would score again making the score 11-3.

We would see a different narrative going into the third quarter, where Cronin would score again for the Blazers. Unfortunately, that would be the only points the Blazers would score. After the Lyons would score, opening the fourth quarter, Cronin would score again for Elms. Then MHC would foul Cronin, who would have a free position shot and score. After another goal made the MHC, Elms would answer back with not only a draw control, but with another goal made by Cronin. The Lyons would score again, but Cronin would successfully possess the ball and pass the ball to Frankwicz who would score. Elms would put up a fight, but were unsuccessful to take home the win, 19-8.
