Women's Lacrosse Lose a Tough GNAC Matchup Against St. Joseph's of Maine

STANDISH, Maine - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to St. Joseph's College of Maine in conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

St. Joseph's would start the game early, scoring the first goal in the opening minute of the first quarter. As the first quarter continued, the Monks would score an additional nine goals, to take a 10-0 lead going into the second quarter. As the second quarter began, SJC would score four more goals, but Elms would get on the board after senior midfielder/attack Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) would score a goal, after finding a pass from junior attack/midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.). The Monks would score once more going into the halftime break with a 15-1 lead.

In the third quarter, St. Joseph's would score six more goals to extend their lead. In the fourth quarter, Cronin would find an open Frankwicz for her second goal, along with a goal from Cronin moments later. Unfortunately, the Monks would score four more goals in the quarter, to put the final score to 25-3 to defeat the Blazers in their first road conference game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Cronin would score a goal and two assists, with eight draw controls, four ground balls, and a caused turnover.

  • Frankwicz would add two goals and a draw control to her season totals.

  • Junior goalkeeper Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) would make eight saves of the 32 shots she faced in her season debut in the net.

UP NEXT: The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team will host Dean College in a conference matchup on Wednesday, March 26th at 5 pm at Leary Field.
