HOW IT HAPPENED

Dean would start the game off with a 4-0 lead, as the Blazers had a tough time on defense early on. Junior goalkeeper Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) made a couple good saves for Elms to keep the score respectable and leave the door open for a comeback. Before halftime, junior attacker/midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored two late goals for the Blazers in the second quarter to give Elms some momentum. Dean would be the first to score in the third quarter, but senior midfielder/attacker Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored to keep the deficit at two goals for Elms. The Blazers continued to be aggressive on offense, but Dean extended their lead out to four goals until sophomore midfielder Rachel Dort (Chicopee, Mass.) cut the lead to 7-4. Elms continued to fight hard, but Dean scored twelve unanswered goals to put the Blazers in a huge hole that they were unable to climb out of.
