Three Women's Lacrosse Players Named All-NECC
NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College women's lacrosse team had three players garner All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) honors as announced by the league office on Monday.
Elms junior attacker Nora McDonough (South Hadley, Mass.) and freshman defender Kathleen Tuechler (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were both named First Team All-NECC while sophomore attacker Jillian Pirog (Ludlow, Mass.) was named Honorable Mention All-NECC.
McDonough finished second on the team in goals (29) but first on the team in points (52) after notching 23 assists. She also collected 20 groundballs during the 2014 season helping the Blazers to the fourth seed in the NECC Championship tournament. Tuechler notched 28 points on 18 goals and 10 assists during her first season on the lacrosse team. She caused a second-best 23 turnovers and won a team-best 62 draws in addition to recording a second-best 42 groundballs.
Pirog scored 26 goals during the season, picked up 24 groundballs, and won seven draws during the 2014 campaign. All three players started all 15 games for Elms this season. Tuechler scored a team-best 13 goals in conference, followed by McDonough with 12 and Pirog with nine.
