Women’s Lacrosse Roars Past Anna Maria College, 18-1

PAXTON, Mass. – Elms College junior midfielder Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) netted a game-high five goals as the Blazers used 12 first half scores to help the Blazers soar to an 18-1 victory over the AMCATS in Thursday afternoon's non-conference women's lacrosse at AMCAT Field in Paxton, Mass.

With the win, Elms snaps a five-game losing streak and improves to 2-6 overall, while Anna Maria falls to 0-7 on the season.

Elms struck the back of the net 12 times in the first period led by three strikes from Narey, three from junior attacker Nora McDonough (South Hadley, Mass.), two each from sophomore attackers Ashley Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Jillian Pirog (Ludlow, Mass.) and one apiece from freshman defender Kathleen Tuechler (Farmingdale, Mass.) and freshman midfielder Emily Dawson (Somers, Conn.).

Kayla Jansen (Pittsfield, Mass.) provided the only marker for Anna Maria with 5:04 left in the first half.

Narey added two more goals in the second half, Cava and McDonough each contributed a goal, while senior midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) and sophomore attacker Emily Brown (Agawam, Mass.) fired in a goal each.

Narey led all players with seven groundballs, Tuechler and Lyons followed with five each and Brown scooped up four groundballs for the Blazers. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Carpenter (Vernon, Conn.) notched two saves between the pipes.

Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, Mass.) and Brittany Jackson (Larchmont, N.Y.) led the AMCATS with three groundballs each, while Bridget Larsen (Hull, Mass.) made 16 saves in the loss.

Elms opens New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Saturday, April 5 when it hosts Becker College at 5:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
