Westfield State University Downs Women’s Lacrosse, 17-0

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Elms College senior goalkeeper Rachel Schrutt (Chicopee, Mass.) made 18 saves, but a three-goal effort from Westfield State University's Maura Stack (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Carly Keeley (Feeding Hills, Mass.) lifted the Owls to a 17-0 victory in Thursday afternoon's New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) contest in Westfield, Mass.

With the loss, Elms falls to 0-9 on the season, 0-4 in NEWLA action, while Westfield State improves to 3-5 on the season, 2-0 in conference play.

Westfield State evened out its scoring, netting nine in the opening half and eight in the second period and held Elms to just three shots.

Stack and Keeley tallied three strikes each to lead five Owls to net multiple goals. Keeley added three of the team's seven assists, while Amanda Bouchard (Lexington, Mass.), Sadie Graham (North Andover, Mass.), and Nicole DiPilato (Shrewsbury, Mass.) found the back of the net twice.

Elms' junior attacker Kaitlyn Harrington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) fired two of the Blazers' three shots, while sophomore midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) added the other. Schrutt scooped up six groundballs, while freshman Alysha Parsons (Newington, Conn.), sophomore Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.), junior Marcia Norat (Brockton, Mass.) and Lyons collected three groundballs each.

Genna Raffaelo (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched 10 groundball and Keeley added seven for Westfield State in the win.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Wednesday, April 11 when it hosts St. Joseph College (Conn.) at 7:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
